Creating ad units

You can create an ad unitThe smallest inventory component that represents the space on a site where ads display. for each unit of ad space on your website or mobile appSynonymous with mobile. Refers to the use of an app via a mobile device, specifically to differentiate from mobile web.. Each ad unit belongs to a site (the OpenX object), and the settings for that siteAn OpenX component that represents top-level domains or sub-domains and is used to organize ad units. Sites enable you to target and report on inventory performance. are used as defaults for each ad unit.

Tip: If you have an existing ad unit that is similar to the one you want to create, select it in the list of ad units and click the clone button. You can then edit it to make any needed changes.

Ad unit types

The Ad Unit Type field is where you select the delivery mediumThe manner in which an end-user is exposed to ad inventory, such as web or mobile., or the way ads will be viewed. Depending on your OpenX products and the type of site you have set up in OpenX, you can create email, linear videoAn ad or ad unit that displays in sequence with video content in a video player. Sequencing may be pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll. Can be accompanied by a companion ad. An example is a video ad that plays before a video starts, though static images may also serve., non-linear video, mobile, native, video companionAn ad that serves in conjunction with a video ad and is located outside of the video player., or web ad units.

Ad Unit Type field

This field inherits options based on the site's default delivery medium.
