Editing line items

After you create and save a line itemThe primary unit of execution for an order, which represents a specific inventory purchase and the required conditions for ad delivery., you can change various attribute settings for it, depending on the current status of the line item.

Change line item details in the edit line item screen for the line item you want to modify. In addition, you can change the name of a line item directly in the list of line items.

To edit a line item:

  1. Open the view line item screen for the line item you want to change and click the edit icon. This displays the edit line item screen.

  2. In the Basic Information panel, change any of the editable settings for the line item.

    As necessary, choose a different Ad Delivery Mode option for the line item, which determines how the ads in the line item are selected for delivery. You cannot change this setting to or from Companion; that is, you can only change this setting between Equal WeightingAn ad delivery method for which the Ad Server evenly distributes impressions between ads in the line item.   3. In the Targeting panel, update targeting criteriaThe rules that define how a creative should be targeted for delivery to viewers. There are several types of targeting criteria: audience targeting, custom targeting, geographic targeting, inventory and content targeting, screen type (delivery media) targeting, and technology and devices targeting. for the line item.

    • If you are working with a targeting template, this will result in custom criteria and will not edit the targeting template. See targeting templates if you'd like to edit a targeting template directly.
    • If you need to clear a targeting template, click the trash can icon to start with a fresh targeting form. Your targeting template will not be deleted.
  4. In the Additional Information panel, change any of the editable setting for the line item.

  5. Click Save. This updates the line item and returns you to the previous screen. A confirmation message for the updated line item appears at the top of the screen.

Changing the status of a line item

You can change the status of a line item directly in the list of line items, or you can change the status of multiple line items at once.

The following rules apply to changing the status of a line item:

  • The container order must be active before you can change the status of a line item.

  • For pending line items: You can change the status to active.

  • For active line items: You can change the status to pending. The OpenX system can change the status to running.

  • For running line items: You can change the status to paused. The OpenX system can change the status to expired.

  • For paused line items: You can change the status to running.
