Creating piggyback beacons

Create piggyback beacons for your conversion tagsA small piece of code that tracks how users respond to the ads that serve for the orders they are associated with..

To create a piggyback beacon:

  1. Open the view conversion tag screen for the conversion tag that you want to copy the conversion tag script for.

  2. Click the Beacons tab.

  3. Click Create Piggyback BeaconA named code snippet returned to the browser when a user triggers another beacon it is associated with.. This displays the Create Piggyback BeaconAn element on a publisher’s website that is invisible to users while it gathers information. AKA “tracking pixels.” screen, where you specify details for the beacon.

  4. In the Name field, type in a name for the beacon. This name must be unique to the advertiserIn OpenX, an account type that represents a business that runs advertising campaigns to display ads on websites. account.

  5. (Optional) In the PriorityIndicates which deal or line item should take precedence in the case that multiple deals or line items are eligible to serve for a given ad request. list, select the order in which to send this beacon in relation to other beacons, when the conversion tag is invoked.

  6. In the Code field, type in the code snippet to use for the beacon.

  7. Select the Fire On Attribution Only check box if you want this beacon sent only when the conversion tag makes a successful attribution.

    Important: Attribution occurs when the user is recognized as someone who should convert for that conversion ID. Some piggyback beacons fire but are not counted by OpenX if the corresponding requests, impressions, clicks, or conversions are discarded.

  8. Click Create.
