Audience targeting

This targeting dimension allows you to target or block groups of users who share particular behaviors or traits.

For example, if a golf company is running a campaignAn advertising project in its entirety, from conception through creation and buying to tracking and final analysis; A collection of related creatives with common advertising purpose and booking requirements; A set of criteria for purchasing inventory to achieve advertising goals. See order. for a new line of ladies' golf clubs, you may be able to target a predefined audience segmentA group of users with similar traits or characteristics. for female golfers.

There are two types of audience segments that you can use:

  • OpenX audience segments

  • Audience segments from an external DMP that are synchronized in OpenX

OpenX audience segments

If you have enabled the audience segmentation feature in OpenX, and if you have already defined audience segments through the OpenX InventoryAd space available on a website or app. The basic unit of inventory for OpenX is an ad unit. tab, then you can target those audience segments when setting up line items, Private MarketplaceThe packaging, offering, and selling of high quality inventory to a limited set of buyers. Select one or more audience segments to target or block.

DMP audience segments

If you have audience segments that have been defined in a DMP, such as Krux, and your DMP has been integrated with OpenX for you, then you can target those segments. They are listed as Third Party Audience segments in the targeting module.

Your DMP audience segments, once enabled, can be used when setting up Ad ServerA complete digital advertising platform where publishers sell, manage, and deliver their advertising inventory across all digital formats. line items, Private Marketplace deals, and Pricing Control floors for the OpenX Exchange. For deals and floors, you set up targeting in packages of inventory. DMP segments are synchronized in OpenX every 24 hours.

Select one or more audience segments to target. You cannot block DMP audience segments; you can only target them.

Note that both your first party and third party DMP segments are available in this feature.
