OpenX MCP Server

Overview

Use the OpenX MCP Server to empower your AI assistant or agent with clear, plain-language instructions to create deals, investigate delivery issues, build audiences or launch campaigns, using the capabilities enabled for your account. You connect once with your OpenX login. The assistant then works with the same objects and operations available through the OpenX APIs, and waits for your approval before making any change.

All tools and skills are listed for everyone. If your account is not enabled for an action, the assistant tells you what to request.

To connect, see Get Started.

OpenX AI agent tools help with deal creation and day-to-day deal management. Actions an agent takes are made under your account, and you are responsible for them. Review all agent actions and outputs before relying on them.

Use is subject to the OpenXSelect Portal Terms of Service.

Tools and Skills

The server gives the assistant two kinds of capabilities:

  • Tools are single operations on OpenX API objects, such as creating a deal, reading a line item’s delivery or looking up a targeting ID.
  • Skills are step-by-step playbooks that combine tools into a complete workflow. A skill tells the assistant which tools to call and in what order, which identifier and unit each tool expects, and which rules to check before it changes anything.

When your request matches a skill, the assistant follows it. Otherwise, it calls the tools it needs directly.

OpenXSelect

OpenXSelect™ tools and skills work with deals and the targeting, audiences and data behind them.

Tools

  • Deals and packages: list, look up, create, update, pause and archive deals; run deal forecasts; build package targeting and create packages; manage curated deal buyer discounts.
  • Inventory search: find domains, app bundles and audience segments for a deal from a plain-language description.
  • Audiences and segments: list and count audiences, estimate reach and pricing, create audiences from a normalized definition, track audience exports, and browse first- and third-party segments and signals.
  • Deal analytics: check a deal’s health, delivery funnel and bid-loss reasons, with hourly, daily and per-dimension metrics.
  • Discovery: look up valid values for targeting and other fields, and search for objects by name, so the assistant finds IDs instead of guessing them.
  • Accounts: list the OpenXSelect and OpenXDirect accounts you can use.
  • Skills: list the available skills and load one by name.

OpenXDirect accounts can also use these tools, for example to look up the deal a line item buys on.

Skills

  • Create a Deal (openx-deal-creation): creates a deal and its targeting package, and checks OpenX targeting rules before it creates anything.
  • Troubleshoot a Deal (openx-deal-troubleshooter): diagnoses why a deal is underdelivering and recommends what to change.
  • Build an Audience (oxs-audience-build): finds matching segments, tells the audience reach and cost, and then saves and activates the audience.

OpenXDirect

OpenXDirect™ tools and skills work with campaign objects: orders, line items and creatives.

Tools

  • Orders, line items and creatives: create, update, activate, pause, and archive orders and line items; create creatives and attach them to line items.
  • Delivery and forecasting: read delivery for advertisers, orders and line items, and forecast a saved line item or a draft one before you create it.
  • Retargeting segments: create, update, and archive.

Skills

  • Launch a Campaign (oxs-campaign-launch): takes a campaign from order to activation, and creates the deal first if you do not have one.
  • Diagnose a Line Item (oxs-delivery-troubleshoot): determines why a line item is not delivering.
  • Review Pacing (oxs-pacing-review): reviews pacing across an order’s line items and flags line items that are behind.
  • Reallocate Budget (oxs-budget-reallocate): moves budget between line items.
  • Change Line Items in Bulk (oxs-bulk-change): pauses, resumes, or changes several line items in one request.

Example Request

You can describe a whole task in one request and let the assistant sequence the tools. For example:

“Create an order called “Fall CTV test” for advertiser X with a $10,000 total budget, add a CTV line item on the “Premium CTV” deal running through the end of next month with a $2,000 budget, attach my “Fall 30s” creative, forecast it, and if it looks healthy activate it.”

The assistant follows the Launch a Campaign skill. It creates the order, creates the line item under it, attaches the creative and runs the forecast, then activates the campaign once you approve. If it cannot resolve something on its own, it asks you.
