Launch a Campaign

The oxs-campaign-launch skill guides the AI assistant through launching an OpenXDirect™ campaign from start to finish. It sets up the deal if you need one, then creates the order, creative, and line item, and attaches the creative. It forecasts delivery and activates everything when instructed. All objects are created paused, and nothing goes live until you review and approve.

To create a standalone curated deal without an order or line item, use Create a Deal instead.

When to Use It

  • Create, set up or launch a new campaign in OpenXDirect.
  • Add an order, line item, or creative.
  • Run a test campaign to check the flow end to end. For example, “Launch a $5,000 banner campaign on deal OX-ABC-123 for next month.”

What You Need

The assistant asks for anything missing in a single message before it creates anything.

  • Account: the OpenXDirect account to use. If you have only one, the assistant uses it.
  • Order: a name, start and end dates, a total budget, and whether the budget is in spend or impressions.
  • Line item: a name, format (Banner or Video), its budget, and an optional bidding strategy. For CTV, choose Video. The deal must be a CTV deal.
  • Deal: an existing deal ID (OX-...), or the targeting to create a new one.
  • Creative: a name, your own creative ID, the ad markup, and the width and height for banners.
  • Go-live choice: whether to activate after a healthy forecast, or leave everything paused for review.

How It Works

  1. Set up the deal, if needed. If you do not have a deal yet, the assistant first checks for an existing one by name. If there’s no deal, it creates a paused deal with the targeting you asked for. You do not set a deal price. The line item’s bid sets what you pay.
  2. Create the order. The order is created paused, with your dates and total budget.
  3. Create the creative. The creative is created paused, using your markup: HTML for banners, VAST for video.
  4. Create the line item. The line item is created paused under the order, buying on the deal, with its own budget and bidding strategy.
  5. Attach the creative to the line item.
  6. Forecast. It shows whether the line item is likely to deliver: green, yellow or red, along with the available inventory, the expected CPM range, and any warnings. On red, it stops. On yellow, it asks you.
  7. Activate on your go. It shows you what will go live and waits for your approval. It then activates in the following order: deal, order, creatives, and the line item.

Rules It Checks

RuleWhat it means
Deal format matches line item formatA Banner line item needs a banner deal.
A Video line item needs a video or CTV deal.
CTV is app-onlyA CTV deal must target apps and TV devices.
Start date is not in the pastAn order cannot start in the past (UTC). The assistant sets the start at least one hour ahead.

Good to Know

  • Deal still publishing: a deal can show “Publishing” for a short time after activation while OpenX prepares it. It becomes Active on its own. Nothing delivers until then.
  • A deal you brought: if your existing deal is not active, the assistant tells you before launch and asks separately whether to activate it.
  • Reused orders: activating an order also lets any of its other paused line items run. The assistant mentions this.
  • Forecast limits: the forecast does not account for frequency caps or day-parting.

What You Get

A summary table listing each object (deal, order, creative and line item) with its ID and status. For the line item, it also shows the deal ID, budget and forecast result. Each order, creative and line item has a link that opens it in OpenXDirect. If it is a test, the assistant offers to archive everything it created.

Safeguards

  • Everything is created paused, including the deal.
  • Nothing goes live until you’ve seen what is to activate and you confirm it.
  • A red forecast stops the launch.
  • An existing deal is never activated as part of the launch without its own approval.
  • If a create call times out, the assistant searches for the object by name before retrying, so it does not create duplicates.

Example Prompts

“Launch a video campaign for $10,000 next month on deal OX-123-ABC.”

“Set up a test banner campaign and leave it paused for review.”

“Create a CTV campaign targeting connected TVs in the US, starting Monday.”
