Change Line Items in Bulk
The oxs-bulk-change skill guides the AI assistant through pausing, resuming, or changing several OpenXDirect™ line items in one request. The assistant confirms exactly which line items are affected and shows you each one with their recent spend. It changes line items one at a time only after you approve. It then verifies each line item and reports what worked and failed.
There is no single “change all line items” action. Each line item is changed individually. If a change fails halfway through, the others are not undone. That is the reason why the assistant shows you everything first, and then reports on every line item.
When to Use It
- Pause or hold spend on everything under an order or campaign.
- Resume a paused campaign.
- Raise or lower the budget, daily budget or maximum bid (CPM) on several line items. Change the KPI target, the end date or the pacing (even or as fast as possible).
- Make the same change across a set of line items. For example, “Pause the video line items in the order Summer Sale.”
For a single line item, the assistant follows the same steps in a shorter form: shows what to change, waits for your approval, and then applies changes.
What You Need
- Line items: an order by name or ID, optionally narrowed by a filter such as “the video ones” or “the underperforming ones.”
- The change to perform: pause, resume, or a new budget, daily budget, maximum bid (CPM), KPI target, end date or pacing. This can be an exact amount or a percentage.
If you say “pause everything” without naming an order, the assistant does not apply it to your entire account. It asks you which order you are referring to. It can also list your active orders to help.
How It Works
- Settle the set. The assistant finds the order and lists its line items. If you set a filter, it tells you which line items the filter kept and which ones it dropped, so that you can confirm. It also leaves out line items the change cannot be applied to, such as ones already paused. It also provides the reason.
- Check the spend. It pulls each line item’s spend for the last 7 days, or for yesterday if you asked for current pace. Pausing a line item that spent $0 changes nothing. Pausing one that spends $2,000 a day is the real decision.
- Show the plan and get approval. It shows a table with each line item’s status, spend, current value, and its new value. Nothing changes until you approve. If you add or remove line items afterwards, it shows the plan again.
- Apply the change one line item at a time. If one line item fails, it notes the reason and moves on to the next. It does not retry with different settings to force a change through.
- Check each result. It re-reads every changed line item to confirm the new status or that the value took effect.
Good to Know
| Situation | What the assistant does |
|---|---|
| You want to pause a whole order | Offers to pause the order itself. This is one step, and resuming the order later brings back exactly the line items that were running. |
| Only some line items should stop | Pauses those line items individually. |
| “Raise the CPM by 10%” | Works out the new value for each line item from its own current bid, and shows the old and new amount for each. |
| A budget increase | Checks that the new line item budgets do not exceed the order’s total budget, and tells you if they do. |
- Changes are not instant. A paused line item can keep spending for up to about 15 minutes before the change takes effect.
- Spend figures run through yesterday. Current day spend is not yet included.
- Status vs delivery. A line item can be active but not delivering. For example, because it is scheduled or finished. The report will show the reason to avoid confusion. Pausing a line item that is scheduled or finished has no visible effect. The report shows each line item’s delivery status.
What You Get
A summary table with one row per line item: what was asked, the result (done, failed with the reason, or skipped with the reason), the status before and after, and for budget or bid changes the old and new amounts in dollars. A count of done, failed, and skipped is also provided.
If anything fails, the result is reported as partly applied, and never marked as done. The assistant tells you which line items still require attention and the current situation.
Safeguards
- Nothing changes until you confirm the plan.
- “Pause everything” is never applied to your entire account unless you name every order.
- Failed changes are reported, and not retried with different settings.
- Every change is double-checked by re-reading the line item.
Example Prompts
“Pause everything under order Spring Launch.”
“Raise the bid by 10% on the video line items in order 5678.”
“Resume the Holiday campaign.”
