MCP Tools

The OpenX MCP Server includes over 100 tools. New tools are added occasionally.

Consider the Following

Prior to start using the tools, consider the following:

IDs: When a tool asks for a parent object, pass the numeric id that another tool returned to have the server resolve it. Deals are the exception because line items reference a deal by its display code (OX-...), which appears shortly after a deal is created.
Field values: When a field needs a code from a fixed list (ad placement, distribution channel, device type, currency), the AI assistant looks it up with options_by_path rather than guessing it. The assistant knows how to achieve this but if it’s guessing, ask the assistant to look up the value.
Line item delivery: A line item delivers against a target (target_type and target_value). Leave them out and the server derives them from the parent order’s budget type and the line item’s budget, so a line item created with just a budget is ready to forecast and deliver. Set them explicitly only when you want something different.
Creating items is real: The assistant confirms before it creates or activates but you should still read what it is about to perform.
What it cannot yet achieve: The MCP Server cannot ask you clarifying questions mid-call or show interactive UI because the assistant works with conversation content. If you get an authentication error during a session because it expires, reconnect with your OpenX account.
